Haha...
Trust me, you dont want to get that shirt back... it gives no protection whatsoever, I trashed it at the earliest convenience.
As far as durability goes, it is unlikely you will even keep an item for long enough to actually even have to repair it before you start buying LVL20+ gear.
And even then, its not expensive. At lvl 39 I still havent gotten to the point where I had a problem with the durability finishing before I got a better item for the same slot. Just dont repair it all the time, at least wait until it actually lists as "broken" so that you reduce the durability less times.

Hey DonW,
The starter gear is not meant to last, nor is it useful for in game battles. It's best to find better clothes through crafting, shops, or Auction House. Finding gear which provides a useful advantage to the game is a great way to earn the upper hand on your enemies, so ditch your starter clothes and find something more durable.

Don't keep clothing purely for the look, you'll find that you wont be able to compete in later levels without decent resists.
If you're worried about character appearence, you're better off buying the best clothing you can afford/equip from the auction house then using the black market to either recolour it or use custom clothing to change the look. Still costs gold, but at least you'll be able to keep up as difficulty levels increase.
