the classes have preequipped items, you cannot equip your own gear on them, they come as is.

Well, I also bought an alien tank top and it shows on my soldier and I also bought some sweat pants that also shows up...how does that work then?

My glasses slot is empty and it doesn't let me do anything with it, why is that? Since my mask is under glasses tab, how do I unlock the slot?

It is interesting, the only thing I can't equip on my soldier that I bought is my mask =/ Help!

there actual items and there are costume items, the appearance only items apply to classes, but real items like masks that add +2 regen or -5% headshot damage cannot be 'added' to classes.

glasses and masks ain't like the other gear customization, they change stats.
The reason you could change hat, shirt,pants, shoes is because it's just a skin. No stats change
