Really it's just stupid, the game should have a tutorial that then puts you on your way. The game doesn't explain to you that you need to even get to level 8, many players in chat ask it. I used to play, I decided to redownload and found my character gone, so I made a new one. I immediatly and welcomed to a menu and that's it. It doesn't say: "Reach Level 8 to move on" it just says: Press here to play with bots and the other with players (shortended but basically what it said.)

This will be really offputting to many new players and would gain more members if it was just a simple tutorial that explained everything.

I tend to agree as you could be left waiting awhile for a game, and I usually find it find to kill time by running arround sunrise city.  Or crafting items I may need or working on raising those skills.

Right on, the devs know about the mistake. Hopefully it'll be corrected soon so no-one is put off at wtf is this an application game? :P

 I am not sure of the intentions of the new gateway system, i cannot understand what aspect this feature improves upon, besides maybe the speed in which matches start, or to instruct new players on the quick match menu and class systems, but it seems better to integrate it with the moat. Or at the VERY least, inform the player to let them know they are in tutorial mode, and compact the time you must stay stuck on the quick launch screen. Achieving lv8 as a free user takes about twice as long as someone would expect from a tutorial session consisting of a menu, and could very easily confuse a player into thinking this is all crimecraft is.

When I started playing last Friday I had no idea what I was doing because of the Gateway.
At first glance I thought maybe the game was just turned into a normal FPS pvp lobby (like counterstrike) and no MMO aspect to it.

Was only until I started browing these forums that I realised that you had to reach lvl 8 to progress. They really need a tutorial stage at the beginning just so that you know what the heck you're doing. Wonder what the numbers are of people downloading it, start and then uninstall.

 I still think they really should give you a option to choose after creating a character to play from the retarded quick play or to be dropped into the moat with some kind of a discription for both. Honestly I bet you 9/10 players would rather head to the moat if they had any idea what the Quickplay menu was like.

Its complety reatared a more or less wroking tutorial but is is removed and replaced by something like "where i went wrong to get here thing" that not even explanes anyting.

Its just moved the tutorial on the players. i meet a level20 chair last few days who dosent even have known a thing about the professions... in this moment i just thought myself WTF.

And i think (me included) everyone prefers the moat to that level 8 gateway

I came to the forums just to ask what the [filtered] happened to the rest of the game.

The moat still exists, after the level 8 gateway.  After hitting level 8 you are given the option to go to the moat, or skip the tutorial.

That said, being stuck on the lobby screen until level 8 is extremely offputting.  I had to search to find out what was going on, and nearly quit playing instead of looking.  I keep seeing people in chat channels asking how to get into the city, how to equip gear(unlock custom at level 5), and even how to enter the world after level 8.  Most of the initial questions could be negated with a single paragraph of explanation...or with the removal of the level requirement.
