Sorry to burst your bubble but in order to get all the privilages of running a gang/gang hideout, Gang Population goals must be met.

I'm not attacking the game, I just wan to play alone or with friends and get all privledges that people who like facebook and social networking also get. I don't even have the hours to put into this more than 2 a day, at about 4am in the morning. I want to try it but a little put-off by the gang info page.
You do not need a gang, you can get by just fine without one, hell you can make your own for your friends when you get the level and cash. IF you do have a gang, you can compete in territory wars, which gives you control over maps, and when that map is played, all the players pay that gang taxes. It is not required to play the game, but haveing friends to loan you a few bucks or throw tips and stratagies your way never hurts.
Eidt: Yes population requirements are needed to 'level up' your gang, which is expected, and realistic. Your not going to be able to go to compton with two friends and destroy the crips ;)

Thank you. that was more of what I wanted to hear. I just don't have the time for big groups and I rarely make friends in mmos, and I've been playing since the first one. So not sure about this game. Sounds like people that didnt get to play in the territory wars shouldn't be taxed. Or they should try to force those players to pay. Looks like the newer reviews were right about this one.

the tax is a microtax, based on how much you earned. You barely even notice it, but it adds up for those gangs controling the map, allowing a good cash flow to come in.

Thanks. I still think they should try to come take it, if they want it.
What about the clothes, it's easy to get all the stuff I'd want through auctions? I mean for example getting stuff in APB is crazy, 60 dollars for 1 gun. In this game can I get stuff I really like if without paying an insane amount of money? I have yet to see a mmo other than Champions and LoTRO where the fees are sane. I have no idea about this game, which is why I'm asking.

Most of the stuff you pay for is for convenience or appearance. Premium gives you more xp and money per match, and if you want your player to look 'badass' you have to buy 'Custom Clothing' which is like costume pieces that apply to your charactor, but i think the classes look quite nice :) End game, the only thing people typically pay for is BM boosts, but these are in no way needed, like those pay to win guns in apb. You can buy any gun in the game with in game credits from the auction house(short of the 5 slot sg2), so free to play players are not at a steep disadvantage. This is one of the few f2p games that is not rediculous if you want to win :)

I mostly want to log in, make a new character buy the money off their store if it's not going to be 100s of dollars or even close, and then buy the exact cosmetic clothes with that money I want, from the auction house or black market.
I haven't even thought about the guns yet.

Do not buy cosmetic clothes until you get high level, or you will be wasting your money, as when you upgrade your clothes the appearance is lost.
Someone will have to tell you if the cosmetic changes applied to classes are permanent, as i have not upgraded a class with custom clothing associated with it yet.
If you plan on putting money in to buy the best of the best, i am afraid this isnt the game for that. Most of the good stuff is earned, and cannot be purchased. Also you need to prove your worth by making it to level 50 to even be able to equip those clothing.
Most important thing is, do not apply custom clothing to your custom profile until you are high level, unless you think the value of the cosmetic change is worth trashing it in a few levels.

Here's what you do. You and your friends can make 3 toons per each person. That's 9 in total. After you hit level 20, send the gang pertions to your alts and main characters to make a gang. Problem solved. That being said, you should give it a try to make friends in game. I've made really good friends in cc. We usually have a blast on clan teamspeak whenever we can ![]()
