I am assuming you are talking about your resistances (Light resist, heavy resist, splahs resist, etc.)  You up these by getting new clothes and armor.

just like superzman said. you need better clothing anjd armor. also boosts can do it as well as well as skills. Liquid armor helps and Blast Helmet. without good resistance your for sure going to die alot.
