I haven't done much crafting so I wasn't going to answer this, but as its been four days...
I'm pretty sure you can only take one path, and on the player guides section of the forum Dr. Septimus has guides showing what specific things you can make by taking one path over another.
I'm not sure about the number of takeable professions.

Each charater gets the choice of a profession which branches into 2. You decide at a later point what to specialise in. Enginner for example has ammo jockey or gearhead.
Even though u can buy and 2nd profession is must be different than your 1st selection.
For instace you have gone engineer then you can go tailor/chem/gunsmith as a 2nd..Each of these has two branches as well Chemistry = Med seeker // Bioforger , Tailor = Outffiter // Clothier
Gunsmith Aug Mentor // weapon head.

yes this is why alts are required to craft items from both spec trees in a single profession.

hmm, so, could someone explain crafts and their limits¿
Okay, so, I have noticed that at some point all crafts split into two branches. Once we reach that point are we able to work both branches or are we forced to pick one?
Last question, somewhere in a thread I saw that we can have up to 4 crafts now? Im an engi atm, does that mean that i can buy second professions and learn them all?
