Julia Hiroko Howe | Community Marketing Manager

"its a blog eat blog world"

Where are you from?
Born in WI, lived in VA, NJ, NY, and Tokyo, Japan (not in that particular order). For the last 12 years I've been mostly living in the NYC metro area. It's where us 'happas' (half-Japanese) seem to blend in the best.

What do you do on CrimeCraft?
As the Community Marketing Manager I'm charged with leading our moderators, weilding the banhammer, plotting events and contests, newsletter blasts, coordinating dev blogs, and most importantly moving communications to and from the devs & community.

What other titles have you worked on?
Various indie games including PnP, CCG, palmpilot, and iphone games. Most extensively worked on Cyber Warrior's MMO title "Rubies of Eventide" and with New Game World on "Immortals" and "Savage Eden".

How did you get involved in your game industry role?
My father was an ubergeek who started a small game studio & ISP. I ran an 81-node BBS with DOORS games and several MUDs (MajorMUD anyone?) for his company (circa 1994)... then went off to engineering school.  After graduating Stevens Institute of Technology I went on to do a mixed bag 'o stuff: composed game music, worked on set design for indie films, playtested some more games, built online communities, worked at New Game World, and even had a co-hosting stint on the AT&T Tech channel.

Going back to grad school and gaining certification in Project Management (PMP) helped tie everything I loved together... When presented with the opportunity to join Vogster on a next-gen shooter PWNs, I jumped at the chance to work on CrimeCraft! =)

What's your favorite game?

For the PC: StarCraft, Diablo, Age of Empires, Sims, and Warcraft3 (custom maps).
For the DS: Robocalypse, Korg simulator (for chiptunes)
For Xbox: Rock Band
PC Retro: Simant, SimCity, Kings Quest
Arcade & Console Retro: Golden Axe, Bust-a-move, Dragon Quest IV,
... still have a soft spot for Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross too.

What kind of music do you listen to?

I'm a big fan of Sasha, Richie Hawtin (plastikman), and pretty much whatever is streaming on 8BitFM these days.
//Chiptunes, nerdcore, and game soundtracks.

What do you do for fun?
Promote chiptune artists, peddle hentai soda, bellydance, sci-fi & anime film festivals, train fennec foxes, video games, play my synths, lurk on forums, work on indie films, and plot world domination!
