There are a total of eight weapon classes in the game. At base, these weapon classes are divided into two types. There are the standard weapons, which can be used by players without requiring the training of a weapon-specific skill, and the skill weapons, which require players to acquire a weapon-specific skill at a trainer in order to equip and use the weapon. The eight weapon classes are split among these two types as follows:
• Standard: Pistols, Shotguns, Assault Rifles, SMGs
• Skill: Sniper Rifles, Grenade Launchers, Rocket Launchers, LMGs
All weapons feature a set of statistics that reflect the power of the weapon. These stats include:
• Damage Type
• Damage
• Rate of Fire
• Range
• Penetration
• Recoil
• Reload Time
• Spread
• Player Speed
• Clip Size
• Clip Count
All weapon choices are Common quality, have no level restriction by default, and come in six varieties. These varieties feature the same base statistics; the primary difference between each variety is the number of attachment slots the weapon features.
In CrimeCraft, weapons are essentially a 2nd player character, capable of being modified and improved as the player desires. There are two ways to achieve this:
• Items installed into the weapon, which improve stats or appearance. These are attachments and modification kits.
• Items equipped in the character window, which improve stats only. These are magazine upgrades.
The most significant part of this modification and improvement system are those items which are installed into the weapon, and in terms of statistics, the most critical items are the attachments. In fact, the vast majority of a weapon’s maximum possible power comes from the attachments slotted into it.
Weapons can feature anywhere from 0 to 5 attachment slots, in addition to the mod kit slot that allows any player to modify the color and pattern of a gun. There are also 5 unique types of weapon attachments, each modifying different stats, and, in some cases, also changing the appearance.
• Sights: Range, Spread, Recoil
• Barrel: Damage, Range, Penetration
• Stock: Spread, Recoil, Player Speed, Reload Time
• Trigger: Damage, Recoil, Player Speed, Reload Time
• Module: Damage, Range, Penetration, Speed Modifier
Unlike weapons, attachments come in several quality levels and are restricted by player level. Equipping attachments to a weapon is a permanent choice, and only one attachment of each type can be slotted into a weapon. Finally, even though base weapons do not have a level restriction, weapons with attachments will gain level restrictions based on the highest level attachment slotted into them.
