Recently on our forums I saw a note from one of our players that we must be happy to see the problems at APB and Real Time Worlds. Well, the truth is, this is a hard industry to succeed in, and it’s small enough that even though APB dev was done in Scotland, many of us here at Vogster have friends who worked at Real Time Worlds and we hate to see anyone lose their jobs.
We’re happy of course to see players from APB make their way to CrimeCraft – it’s always good to have more targets, right? – but when a game shuts down, it’s not good for the industry or gamers. We believe the online gaming space is big enough for all of us.
While CrimeCraft shared a lot of thematic concepts with APB, we found that the two games played very differently (almost complementary, to be honest). APB had a lot of great features, not least of which was their awesome character customization.
We wish all those guys the best! There were a lot of talented guys working at Real Time Worlds and while this industry is a tough place to find jobs these days, we know they’ll be back and working on new projects soon!
