Corporations play a great role in the world of CrimeCraft. These mega-industrial giants weathered the perfect storm that battered human civilization, in no small part because the survivors needed them more than ever, or rather, needed their products. What we have an eye on today are 2 of the leading mega-industrial corporations in the world, ChemTech and InduraCorp. These are two companies that specialize in medicines, but, like all mega-industrials, they have their hands in other industries too.

While other corporations churned out weapons and attachments, these manufacturers took advantage of an uncertain and uncaring world. Some have brought hope, others are just content to feast on the dying society. Not everything is quite as it seems on the surface. Not all of these “Angels of Mercy” have angelic pursuits in mind, even after the world almost ended…
ChemTech
One of the youngest of the major mega-industrial corporations, ChemTech has experienced explosive growth over the past ten years. They are among the current market leaders in terms of medicinal offerings. They have a special focus on health and stamina boosts, especially their primary healing brand, SureBoost. They are also known for making the best rocket magazine upgrades and modification kits in the world.
Despite their fast growth and popularity, ChemTech has gained a reputation for advancing their research at all costs. There have been numerous reports of new clinical trials submitted by ChemTech going seriously awry. Two of the most disconcerting of these unconfirmed reports describe participants dying from what should have been a healing serum or participants erupting in a spray of blood from every orifice due to an improperly calibrated stamina boosting serum.
Regardless of the rumors, however, there has only been one confirmed incident involving ChemTech and their ethical flexibility. This involved a very early version of their ForceWard line of defensive medicines. Designed by the CEO, Dr. Michael Thompson, this medicine was developed in order to allow the body itself to become more highly resistant to damage from explosions for a brief period of time. Initial tests of the medicine had shown promise, but Dr. Thompson’s assistants insisted on human trials before any clinical tests were done to prove safety. During this rushed phase of testing, a flaw was discovered in the way the drug set up the calcification link between the skin and the bones. By the time it was discovered, however, it was too late, as the runaway reaction ultimately caused participants taking the drug to slowly turn to stone as their bodies ossified. Though this particular event cost ChemTech millions of dollars, it did not teach them a lesson, and they persist in their methodology, regardless of the human cost it extracts.
InduraCorp
A company that is as much about the public front it displays as the products it produces, InduraCorp is considered one of the most powerful, and perhaps most dangerous, corporations in the world. Led by the ruthless and beautiful Nicola Simaskaya, the company excels at concealing the realities of the research it does. While it is Nicola’s sensationalistic lifestyle that helps provide some cover, the company also maintains a benign public image by providing some of the best quality medicines and AR kits in the world.
Having existed for only 40 years, InduraCorp has been staggeringly successful. So successful that many external observes believe that the company has a substantial role in black research projects and other clandestine operations. To combat this perception, if only to hide the fact that it is actually significantly more dangerous than people suspect, InduraCorp has fostered an image of service and generosity over the years, an image that was boosted when Nicola Simaskaya took over.
Nicola is a singularly ambitious, popular and charismatic woman. She is so persuasive that she managed to convince the board of the company to unanimously vote her to run the company, expelling her own father from a position he had held for thirty years. She is many things to many people, and while most of them are good, there are quite a few conspiracy theorists who believe she is out to bring the world to heel under her rule.
Rumors abound about numerous black research facilities under her direct control, focusing on a variety of areas, including superweapons and genetic manipulation. Others believe she controls and deploys a secret army to take action on her whim. Finally, speculation also abounds that some, if not most, of the “boosts” found on the streets of the world’s cities, may actually be “field testing” of new, dangerous chemicals by InduraCorp.
Whatever the truth may be concerning InduraCorp, it is known to only a few. There have been some who dared to discuss what they knew, but almost all of them have subsequently died in horribly violent, public manners. The conspiracists see in this a pattern of InduraCorp eliminating those who betray its dark heart, but the general public doesn’t see things that way. Instead, most see it as just another chance to see Nicola in a black dress in the tabloids.

We’ve only touched upon two of the eight mega-corps, so stay tuned to this blog to get a peek at even more of the companies behind the healing in CrimeCraft. Be wary though of their healing touch, because again, not everything is what it seems on the surface.…
