On the mean streets of Sunrise City, it pays to know the right man for the right job. Whether you’re looking for a new gat or the perfect hat, Pawnbrokers can put that piece in your hands.

Zimir Rabinovitch
Zimir Rabinovitch grew up on the streets. When he was young, he heard tales of the proud life his family had once lived in Eastern Europe. They told him of the wealth and power his family name amassed during a time when the Hammer and Sickle of the Soviet Union flew proudly from every building. And then, they would tell him tales of how the end of that era brought an end to their wealth, and forced a journey to America to search for a better life there.

Zimir's family never found that better life. Instead, as he grew older, Zimir realized that the tales of streets paved with gold his babuskhas had told were wrong. In order to find success, Zimir turned not to America, but to those in his homeland, establishing ties with gun runners specializing in procuring the best weapons in Europe. Eventually, he became known as a man who could get his hands on anything ... for a price.

When the collapse came, Zimir found himself trapped in Sunrise City. Having just completed a deal with the Two-Five for a shipment of the latest Exeter shotguns, he sought refuge with Myron Funt's crew. In exchange for their protection, he agreed to use his talents to keep them supplied, and he's done so ever since. Nowadays he runs the downtown pawnshop and he can still get you anything you need, with enough time and for a price.

Sam Dresdin
Sam Dresdin is one of the more interesting characters in Sunrise City, in that he’s come to be a member of this city’s elite by a far different route than most of its other prominent citizens. For most of his adult life, Sam would be one of the men whose job it was to bring down governments, corporations and terrorists that threatened the world, as he was a CIA man through and through.

From the jungles of Panama, to the back alleys of France, Sam had run every kind of black ops program you can imagine. Assassination squads, orchestrating a coup d’état, training guerrilla forces, gun running, corporate espionage … Sam knew more secrets and had seen more strife than any man should in a single lifetime.

Indeed, Sam became quite used to having access to offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands. He enjoyed the comfort of having his every need and want fulfilled, with the tab picked up courtesy of the American taxpayer. As he aged, he began to realize that there was no way he could settle for the simple life retirement would soon bring. So, on his last mission, Sam went rogue, plotting an ambush that would allow him to escape with several million dollars and a crate of forty Devastator thermobaric missiles. His ruse worked quite well, as none of his handlers suspected anything, and he was presumed dead.

So it was until he showed up in Sunrise City, shortly before the collapse. He quickly set up shop, reaching out to many of those with whom he’d once worked. Though many of these contacts were killed in the chaos of the collapse, enough survived to allow Sam to become one of the most prominent procurers in the City. In every corporate enclave, in every military base, and in every city-state, Sam has a network that makes him one of the best people around for those seeking to procure some of the deadliest items on the planet.

Sal Vanetti
Sal Venetti was anything but your average con man. Even from his early years, growing up on the streets of Oceanside, Sal always had an angle. There was no one he couldn’t charm or manipulate into giving him his way. He was ever looking for the next mark, always coming up with a new con or continually running a thriving underground gambling hall. His most successful early venture was a pawnshop set up as a front for an underground casino in Sunrise City. Whether it was cutting corners in his construction business or cutting throats of marks that wouldn't pay his vig, Sal was not a man to be trifled with, and he built that shop into a powerful crew.

As soon as the Bianchi family got wind of his operation, they swooped in and made him, part and parcel, a member of the extended family. No longer just a crew boss, he became a trusted lieutenant of Nunzio Bianchi, son of then Don, Vincenzo Bianchi. Working alongside Nunzio, Sal swiftly rose through the ranks, eventually coming to be in charge of Bianchi Construction.

It was during his years at the head of Bianchi Construction that Sal made the mistake of dating a young model also fancied by Nunzio. When Sal made his intentions to marry the model known to his friend, Nunzio flew into a rage, claiming that she belonged to him. When Sal balked, Nunzio turned to his father, who quickly ensured that Sal was cut out of the family’s business. Sal found himself demoted to being a simple bag man working at the pawnshop he’d once started.

Now, Sal spends his days “retired” in Midtown. His old friend is now Don of the Bianchi family, and Sal spends every day angrily plotting his vengeance, pining for the day when he has the chance to again make a name for himself in Sunrise City.
