Forum Policy

Profanity: Although the site is 18+ we still moderate the forums for profanity and auto-filter posts to our public forums. Players may report a post as inappropriate and our moderators will handle posts flagged as questionable in content. circumventing the filter using special characters and alternate spellings are not allowed. Users who persist in circumventing the filter may be issued an infraction, and this could escalate into a banning offense. Note: User Profile Shoutboxes are not actively moderated by staff, however, should inappropriate material be posted and is reported by the community, action may be taken as explained throughout the policies below.

Harassment: Harassing other users, moderators or developers will not be tolerated. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, personal insults and threats, racial and religious epithets, sexual orientation, real-life information and threats, and insults based on nationality. This behavior is subject to report and users who are deemed as harassing may be issued infractions. This can escalate into a banning offense.

Forum Names: Forum names which are deemed prejudicial and/or racially offensive are prohibited from being used. User names are also limited to the rules involving profanity and harassment. Users with offensive usernames will be given the option to have their username changed only once. If ignored, you are liable to either be suspended from the forum or to have your username changed to our liking (just for fun).

Trolling/Flamebait: Discussions in public CrimeCraft channels that are deemed by staff to be deliberately posted to cause arguments or controversy will be regarded as trolling. Public attacks on CrimeCraft, Vogster, our employees or our community will be deleted. Individual attacks also are subject to deletion. Trolling posters may be issued an infraction. This can escalate into a banning offense. It is the duty of community members to report and ignore trolls. Please, do not feed them!

Solicitations and Advertising: Our forums are not to be regarded a free advertising space for other games, products, people, or services. Users may not use the CrimeCraft site to sell, solicit donations for charities, accrue signatures for petitions, or recruit players for other games (i.e. referral links). Moderators will remove posts which fall under this category. Offenders may be issued an infraction and this could rise to a banning offense.

Illegal activities: You may not use the forums to promote real life criminal activities or actions that aid such activities. Anyone found doing so will be instantly banned and may be reported to the appropriate authorities for prosecution. It’s a game about crime, not a lifestyle people!

Impersonation & Misrepresentation: Anyone found impersonating or trying to pass themselves off as a Vogster representative (dev, GM, or moderator) will immediately lose their forum privileges. Passively misrepresenting yourself as staff, by changing your forum avatar to a Vogster trademarked logo, "GM", "Mod" or similar image is not permitted. Likewise, anyone found to be underage (under 18 years old) will also be banned.

Hacks/Exploits/Bugs: Users found hacking the forums or exploiting bugs for unfair gain will be issued an infraction with penalties ranging up to and including banning on the first offense. Extreme offenders may be reported to the appropriate authorities for criminal prosecution. Community members must report any exploits or hacks they discover to abuse@crimecraft.com.

Spamming & cross posting: Users who routinely post gibberish or flood topics with repeated posts in succession will be considered spammers. Cross posting is when someone posts the same message in different forums. Offenders may have their access temporarily revoked or topics locked and they may be issued an infraction. Habitual spammers run the risk of being negatively rated in the community and multiple infractions could rise to the level of a banning offense.

Bumping & Necromancy: Bumping posts to keep them higher on the topic list may be tolerated to a point but Moderators may delete 'bumps' as spam at their discretion. Deleted bump posts result in negative community points. Resurrecting old posts (necromancy) is generally considered bad forum etiquette and it is discouraged.

Misinformation: User posts containing false information about the game or its staff will be deleted. Users who conduct propaganda campaigns against Vogster, our games, our employees or our community will be banned from the forums.

Player Privacy: Posting private information about another player without the permission of said player is prohibited. This can include instant messenger information or even photos of the user. Basically, if it doesn't belong to you or it isn't about you and it's personal, don't post it.

GM / Mod Instructions: Users are expected to comply with requests from the moderator and GM teams on the forums. Failure to comply with a moderator or GM request may result in a temporary suspension of user forum privileges

Signature/Avatar: Just a reminder that although we're a mature game, we do in fact censor some content on the forums because it represents our community to the outside world. As such, profile pictures and signature files need to be considerate of other races, creeds, sexes, and religions.

This means no signatures or avatars (profile pictures):

* over 400 pixels high.
* with offensive (NSFW) visuals.
* deliberately attempting to circumvent our forum censors and rules.

We don't actively seek out 'offensive' content but if enough complaints come rolling in, it will flag your sig or avatar for review. At that point, a decision from our staff may result in the removal of the offending material. On the other hand, continuously spamming us with complaints against another player without basis could result in a ban for the complainer. Each instance will be handled on a case-by-case basis with a final decision being communicated through PMs.

How to Report a Post: Players may report posts using the [!] REPORT button, which is found on the rating bar under each message.

These rules are subject to change at any time and without notice. Rulings made by the staff are considered final. Those found in violation of the rules or ‘spirit’ of the rules may have their account actioned upon as outlined above.
