Just bought the game from Best Buy. Came home to install it, and the launcher is now stuck on the same "patch". Everytime I click update, all it does it say cancel for about 2 seconds and then it says Update again, rinse and repeat. Here is a pic of what I see:

Yes, I've replaced the old launcher with the new, Yes I've checked my firewalls, Yes I've opened my ports, and Yes I know what I'm doing.

No, I don't understand why this game isnt updating, but I've never had any troubles with any games updating or playing on my computer. So this is why I'm a little frustrated. I'm running XP (only the best OS for windows users.)

I've tried googling for this problem and it seems like everyone beats around the bush with this and if there is no fix, I'm gonna be angryyyyyyyy. Got my hopes up for this game, so come on CC Freaks, help me out a little.

XP may be shooting you in the foot, as this problem may be related to your version of .NET framework (or lack thereof.)

If your launcher and updater are continually asking you to update and patch the client, please make sure that you're running the .exe as an Administrator. In order to do this, right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator."

God I hope not, I love XP.

I got passed the patch but now everytime it downloads the alotted files, It downloads the 1g File and says it's corrupted and to repair, I've done so, multiple times, also tried uninstalling and reinstalling, just keeps saying its corrupted.

I was having the EXACT same issue after the lastest patch. No matter how many times you repaired or tried to redownload the patch, it would get to a point where you would click the update button, it will act like it doing something for a second, then go right back to update... right?

This problem along with the problem where I can't choose 1080 resolution, forced me to give up on this game completely, and it's now uninstalled. Good luck. You'll need it since the development team doesn't respond to posts that they don't want to waste their precious time on. People have literally been waiting over a year for the RESOLUTION PROBLEMS to be fixed.

If you are having problems with this game, stop wasting your time/money on it. The devs either won't or can't fix them. Bottom line.

I went back to World of Warcraft myself and can't wait for Cataclysm.

Figures, I was pretty stoked when they responded pretty promptly. It seems like Steam users do not have this problem.

I bought this game (sealed) from Best Buy... Maybe that's why it was $10? I want a fix or like a steam copy, I'm getting pretty aggrivated. Don't make a game say for Windows XP, 7, Vista any of those if you can't run it right.

If you talk to the customer service, they may be able to figure out a way to transfer your ownership to Steam. Though I don't know if something like that's ever been done before- but it would be at least one solution.

I can't find a number for them, do you know of one?

I just want to play this game, I'm bored with WoW and all the other "just a like" mmorpgs, and this one seems to be hell of a lot different and I like the idea, now only if I could get it to work.

Okay guys, I have the fix for this, tech support actually gave me the fix.

It seems that the updater that comes with the CD, is bugged. All I did was go to one of the mirrors provided to re-download/install/update the game, and now it works like a champ !
