Nice idea, actually... I have some more sugestions, now that we lose the coloring stuff to add some more individuality and demand for players...
1. Make the engineer be able to paint the attachments with some special items.
2. Same for clothes and talore.
3. More weapons for GunSmith... You can sacrifice the painting and AUG to do that. Anyway, painting could be apart (Or new ocupation for engineers, apart from attachments, ammo and at.paint). And the "Tinkerer" class could actually be the one who make AUG and all mentioned things.
4. Chemist... Well... Actually changed. )

i like this idea but i had a better job that this craft can do. they should be able to breakdown old iteams nolonger needed or wanted into mats this can be clothes weapons augs boosts or anything that a player has that they dont want but dont want to sell in ah and need mats this will help all classes get more mats and posibly bring prices of mats in the AH down slightly players that break items down could be in the sub class of gear tinkerer and this will make that junk gun you had replaced more useful the lvl of mats received and quanity depends on the tinkerers profession lvl the higher the profession level the more mats he gets out of items required tools scissors for clothes and wrench&screwdriver for augs and weapons and boosts i dont think anyone wants to break it down but for those that do a bunson burner and beaker could be the tool for that and with this job thos who collect stuff in SFG can have those broken raggedy items fond in the Containers broken down unsteed of trying to sell it to someone in AH that then would spend $ to fix it for use but find it is way weaker than one thought

Ok ashley was talking in lfg about a 5th profession well to be honest the only viable use for a 5th profession i could come up with would be a profession called "Tinkerer"
Features a Tinkerer can do.
Can Repair the durability on weapons & mods for a fee & for the required GS mats or Engi mats
after all no need to add more mats for this prof
leveling up the tinkerer is simple the more you repair the higher you get in your prof.
higher level tinkerers take less mats to repair things where as low level require more
this can also work for clothing as well?
Tinkerer can turn junk mats into useful things , hence there is a use for those grey item drops before hand broken needles , used syringe ect. titanium blade (has a possible salvage skill ) can break down things into base mats or items
now heres the kicker tinkerer profession should be able to add slots to guns example they can make a 1 slot weapon into a 5 - 6 slot with paint again this takes a combo of Gunsmith mats & engi as its a mixture of both
Taken it further we can add slots to clothing so maybe he could add slots for stats on clothing & craft those buffs example he can use a combo of all mats in game to make a buff that goes on clothing ( 1.6 HP regen to chest piece ontop of gear stats) or 5% splash resist or medium resist. This would allow players to really customize what they need most with the gear they have.
Eliminate the players ability to destroy attachments so that only the tinkerer can remove them off guns but another awesome thing is when he removes the attachment it doesnt disappear he get to keep & repair it <-- tinkerer can then sell the attachments on AH.
Another cool thing would be to allow max level tinkerers to unbound items for a fee & again for mats to keep the mats system in play this would allow players to get more use out of purchased weapons.
Now as for the repair broken weapons part heres what comes into play for balancing
All guns should only have a max re-use rate of 3 times meaning you can only take that weapon to the tinkerer 3 times to be renewed. after that its gone. same with the attachments you can only pull them off a weapon 3 times. example if tinkerer took a mod of a gun put it on ah it would only have 2 more times it could be placed and re-sold this would keep the economy going.
You could make the profession split into 2 tree's also
Salvager -- can turn useless junk into base mats for sale also has a chance at finding tier 5 loot during normal matchs as drops. just to kinda balance each tree out.
Gear tinkerer -- can add extra slots to gear ect
