Report2

Recently a few lucky citizens of Sunrise City were tasked with being the "Eyes and Ears" within the city of Sunrise.  It is our job to bring the word of the community back to Vogster and Team Crime Craft so that we may have the game the community wants!  To this end, I have began collecting data from the Feedback section of the forums and passing it on up the ladder.  As well, I have taken some time to actually "hit the streets" within the Exeter and Jericho servers collecting thoughts, ideas and opinions from the community for the future of Sunrise City.  I will be doing this on a regular basis, and any and all ideas and feedback are welcome.  I only ask that you be constructive as "trolling" will not be passed up the ladder.

On that note, it was suggested that "sessions" be held in the clubs to allow community members to voice their opinions and give ideas and feedback on things that might make the game more personal for the members of the community.  It is with this in mind that I have gone ahead with the idea and about every 2 weeks the Simply Effin Astounding Club in Oceanside will host a free admission BS session complete with a vent channel with a capacity of 50 people able to use voice.  For now the sessions are restricted to the Exeter Server as we do not yet have a club on the Jericho server, however if you are from Jericho and do have an Exeter account as well you are of course welcome to come.

Our first session will be held Monday March 28th at 7:30 PM MST

6:30pm Pacific
7:30pm Mountain
8:30pm Central
9:30pm Eastern

Aside from this we will continue to roam the servers spraying questions (and bullets) around the community to get your ideas and feedback!

*note  I would have put overseas timezones as well but everytime I jump in my boat and start out over the ocean I end up stranded on a deserted island with Cindy Crawford and nobody hears from me for months!

**EDIT**

I will post in this thread 1 hour prior to the start of each session and all our Vent info as well as a link to get it if you do not have it yet can be found HERE!

A good example:

This game is quite graphically demanding but has the lowest customization for graphics settings I have ever seen. You are literally given the most basic settings possible. Texture 1-5, World Detail 1-5, Vertical Sync Enable/Disable, and Shadows Enable/Disable. This is probably the lowest selection for in-game GFX tweaking available for a game out today.

"Game developers realize that with the vast variety of computer hardware in use today, it is better to give the end user as many options as possible to customize their game settings to find the appropriate balance of image quality and performance (and compatibility) for their particular machine."

As it stands now, CC is a difficult game to run smooth for almost any machine.

Specular Lighting is one feature that persists in this game even with the GFX settings as low as they get.
I would love to see seperate options for Specular Lighting, Glow/soften, and even Weather effects.

This is the first game I have ever played that I had to run in a lower resolution than my native res.

A bad example:

Nothing is as important to me personally as the GFX settings, but I would like to throw 3 more things out there that I feel like Vogster really needs to do, and not just something I feel is in my personal taste.

1. The untextured solid black buildings in Downtown need to be textured.
2. The NPC melee needs to be drastically nerfed. It's downright unfair that a bot can melee slice me 3-4 times to my one swing.
3. The AI. NPC's react superhumanly fast, spam abilities that should be on a cooldown, have 360 degree vision, can aim directly up and down when players cannot, can SEE and shoot you through walls, and have no human error in their accuracy. An NPC with an LMG can really, really make me mad.

Oh and MacKenzie PvE for players out of The Moat. =P

I would love to see Vogster carry this to the next step. Rather than just allowing the story set up by the Bleedout to run dry it should evolve into an active player-driven experience, ala The Matrix Online (warning: all future comments made by Synapze777 are made because of the following reference to that game, if he does deign to comment at all).

In that game the gms frequently took over the main plot characters to direct the flow of the game and how players crafted the story. Through characters like Morpheus and the Twins each side of the conflict was given time contextual missions that the other factions were looking to thwart in open world PvP. These missions included taking down agents, hacking into location specific nodes, and data-mining. Whole entire servers would engage in warfare surrounding these player events. And depending upon the outcome of events the world would be written in a different direction. Sure there were the surface level kill x of these and get me y of these quests. But these community driven events are what invested people into the world and made it one of the best communities of mmos. To this day I know there are people working on getting a server running for MXO. It just shows the how much the event team and the developers were able to make what might have been a mediocre game amazing.

The question is how does one accomplish this in Crimecraft? You need look no further than to the various factions. Have a GM be Gerome Mills and get him to ask for help in a specific instance with a special rule set. For the sake of example we'll take a large map, and scatter various components around it, that you need to make some machinery work to unlock more of the mission. These missions would last for at least an hour if not more, preferably for a very long time, with people signing up to help the Disciples and others for another criminal group that has different goals, those including to thwart Mills by destroying the machinery, or for  securing other pieces of the map. Players looking to join either side will be rewarded big, with a hefty cash sum, as well as some decent loot, such as those very rare tier 5 materials or various recipes and so on and so forth. Let me be clear right now in saying this about the rewards: they should be equal for each party participating, except for perhaps the cash reward and the reputation reward.

Speaking of reputation, I think another great way to get people to invest in this sort of event system is a rep system within the gangs. Through the regular built in missions players can acquire a basic reputation, to the  point where they are friendly enough with the groups and they will offer them a chance to participate in these types of events. Then when they being to particpate they being to gain more reputation in the one faction, i.e. the Disciples, but lose reputation with the other factions who participate in the event. That way a person or group dedicates themselves without breaking the story if they suddenly decide to work for an organization that they are hated by. The only way to ensure that nobody gets but sore is to have all of the factions recieve equally awesome rewards.

This is just one of the ideas I have. There are many more to come.

[filtered] YES! That would be the coolest [filtered] ever. Having actual GM's play the main characters of the game. I like.

Very nice :)

Thats what I like to see.  Well thought out and very intriguing Rekas.  Would make for an intresting new twist with the rep system, and I would love to see some of the NPC's be more active...... Who knows..... Maybe even Jens Pulver as HIMSELF!

Nice feedback guys. Let's keep the topic alive with constructive ideas and feedback.

Also, let's consider the time to implement these ideas you present. The developers already devote much of their time to provide new content and improvements; many of which require a lot of time and hard work to program and develop art materials for. Since their schedule is pretty tight, you have to consider if these ideas will take too much time away from their busy schedule of new features, improvements, and content they're already working on.
