This guide from perdition.cc, but I change it a little bit.
Engineer
Pros:
Saves player most money in character advancement (self-sufficiency in attachments and ammo)
Crafts widest selection of items
Easiest to build repeat customer pool alongside Chemist (consumable crafting)
Cost-effective end-game products with huge market (Ammo Jockey - lvl 50 Blue SG module, Stock; lvl 50 Blue AR stock, barrel, sight.)
Cons:
Many necessary ingredients are rare and expensive (Torsion Dissipators [T2], Ruined Attachments[T3], Depleted Metal Ingot [T3], Cartridge Containments [T2], Self-Tightening Bolts [T3], Zinc [T4],Osmium [T4], Abandoned Bolts [T3], Carbon Steel [T4], Reinforcing Nanotubes [T5], Cobalt [T5], Uranium [T5])
Least cost-effective end-game (ie. crafting level 50 items of top quality due to cost and rarity of Tier 5 Engineer ingredients and he difficulty of finding T5 XDI)
Relies heavily on Tailor XDI (such as Silken Jacketing Matrix) that are costly
Misc.:
Crafts Ammo and Attachments
Huge market for consumables (ammo)
Chemist
Pros:
Least time-consuming to level up
Can craft most Primary ingredients
XDI needed are most common and easy to obtain
Craft own drugs
Decent profit from most sought after drugs (Indura Liquidstone, HP-replenishing medkits, Betadyne Amplifex)
Easiest to build repeat customer pool alongside Engineer (consumable crafting)
Easiest profession to level up.
Cons:
Tailor XDI for this craft are (still) expensive due to rarity of materials necessary to craft
Some ingredients are rare and expensive (Auto-Injector [T5], Viroxodol [T5])
Lengthy craft-time for some boosts (can be allieviated with recent Lobby AUG additions)
Gunsmith
Pros:
Craft own weapons, ability AUGs, Lobby AUGs, Combat AUGs that improve gameplay
Cheapest profession to level up
Second least time-consuming to level up
Second-best cost-effective end-game (esp. for AUGmentor which can craft R-Sys Leopard Sigma6)
Many ability AUGs are easily craftable and sell well
Cons:
Lengthy craft time on many items, allieviated by a Lobby AUG
Most products can be crafted by anyone of the Gunsmith Profession, small market for weapons that are below 4 slots
Low Alloy Carbon Steel (Engineer XDI [drop schematic]) difficult to obtain
Misc.:
Crafts Weapons and AUGs (Lobby, Ability, Combat)
Combat and Ability AUGs take up the same slot
Tailor
Pros:
Most profitable Profession (XDI, Clothing)
Most profitable/cost-effective end-game products (Clothing, XDI)
Craft own clothing (provides resistences)
Cons:
Many necessary ingredients are rare and expensive (Yarn Cord Polyester [T2], Button Edging [T3],Seamseal Coating [T3], Shredded Fabric Scraps [T3], Metallic Thread [T5], Gossamer Silk [T5])
Relies heavily on Engineer XDI (Metal Buttons) that are costly and extremely rare
Costliest profession to level up (cost 4-5 million to level up from lvl 1-250)
Hardest profession on the game (pain in the [filtered])
Clothing is a one-time purchase item type
Mostly u will craft green trash, what no one will buy (Sell it to vendor)
Dont do this profession on a dying server (US Exeter), because u cant sell the stuff what u craft. And the ingredients are too expensive to craft anything for sell.
I think the best profession is the Chemist. Because very easy to level up, huge market for boost, and cost-effective.
