I have a question about profiles.  I understand it basically let's you take on an extra profession as well as redistribute your skillpoints.  This seems like a pretty cost effective way to have access to double the skillpoints wouthout rerolling characters (and the added benefit of being able to switch between modes in battle).

However, reading up on it led me to some worring things:  is it true that all gear equipped across both profiles will degrade even if you do not use the profile?  Does anyone have any experience with this?

This will greatly effect if I get a single 'alternate' profile or  set up a suite of profiles.

I'm still unclear as to what an extra profile does exactly.  I don't think you get an extra profession though since there's a seperate thing to buy for that.  

So you need a totally seperate gear loadout?  And you have a seperate set of skillpoints to spend?  

Second professions must be purchased through the Black Market and have nothing to do with multiple profiles.  There were some issues brought up before about gear and items degrading regardless of which profile you are on and I believe it was stated that they would be addressing the issue.  I am unsure as to the results though as it has been some time since I ran multiple profiles and noticed any degrading when profiles were not being used.

A second (or more) profile allows you to apply multiple builds on a character and quickly switch between the builds in the heat of battle using the "P" key.  It is somewhat like the "custom build" options you see in Call Of Duty and Black Ops.

But how does the extra profile work?   Do you need all new equipment for it?  Is there a seperate set of skill points or are they all under the same pool?  

You will need extra gear and extra skill points for the extra profile.

*edit* one skill can be used across all profiles though if you wish to use more skills you will need the extra skill points.
